Mahindra going Hybrid diesels in 2010

Global Vehicles USA Inc., the American distributor of Mahindra trade name pickups and SUVs, says it will present hybrid diesel engines as an alternative on its vehicle line here begging in 2010. GV strategy to launch 3 diesel vehicles in the America next year.

In a meeting with Automotive News, GV Chief Executive officer John Perez said the hybrid drive method is being build up by Mahindra and Mahindra, along with Robert Bosch GmbH and the Austrian engine expert AVL Power train Engineering Inc. The alternative should improve the trucks’ energy efficiency 25 to 30%. The average diesels are predictable to get above 30 mpg.

Perez also says Mahindra will bring together its pickups at a plant in Ohio from CKD (complete knock down) modules. Perez said. That measure is to evade the 25 percent tax charged on imported pickups.
